Just for fun with some flea market finds:

It does vignette quite a bit but everything is in focus and it exposes right in daylight as the camera was designed.

I will see if I can pick up a flash unit and shoot some flashbulbs...

Slick, I have a flash unit for a BHF, if you want it (just shipping). I was thinking of putting a small flash (electronic) into it, but gave up; so it is going nowhere.

Thank you, I do have a flash for it. Maybe I will give it a try. Should be easy to hook an electronic flash, the two terminals just close a contact but it may fire early due to the 'M' synch. I was going to give up on the camera but everyone seems to like the vignetting and look. Here is another shot:

I wonder if a simple lens from a 6X9 box camera would cover better? There are quite a few out there for just a few dollars that could be adapted.

Thanks Guys,
Yes I do think a 6x9 would do better with the vignetting. Maybe that will be my next project. Fortunately the Colorpak was free and the Brownie cost $5. Less than a fast food meal and a lot more fun...

Here is another pic from it:

I would measure the focal distance of your camera, possibly it is too far forward. And moving it closer to the film plane which is more in line with a Brownie will give you both better focus and fuller coverage.

I made a BHF lens for my Pentax 6x7 and I'm still adjusting it. But I'm getting close and I found I'm happier with a focal lenght as close to the original BHF. This is my latest, still not where I want it:

Thank you Charjohn,
I used the internal plastic light box as a guide so I know the film plane is accurate to the BHF. I was thinking of moving it back a bit but I am worried about losing the close focus. I kinda like the vignetting but would like to make a little bit wider and softer.

I like the photos, too. My problem with these homemade lenses is: if you make them too perfect then they look too good and nobody knows it is a homemade camera.

I made a lens for my IIIf out of a disposable camera lens; it was so good it was no fun.
