It isn't much, I slept through the worst of it.
The subway station where the bomb went off is close to home, I use it sometimes. Elegantly decorated by benoit.
Public transport shut down, I had to walk to work, past parliament and the American embassy. Spent an hour trying to get into the station, police wouldn't let us in. Of the four trains they assigned to me, I saw not one.
But I saw this :
cheers

i would be very interested in what Molenbeek looks like tonight and tomorrow. guilty by association seems a common reaction these days.
i spent a weekend, a few years back, lost in said neighbourhood and it was such a lovely time.

Thanks Lukitas for this visual. As all of us reel in response to the news, images like yours reveal a less violent side of a day we will all remember because of terrorist acts. Thank you for this, and do stay safe. I have friends attending VUB Belgium who are still on lockdown.

what?
Yes.... Helen speaks for me as well (but eloquently).
Be safe.

Thank you all for your kind messages.
I'd like to be safe. But it is a bit of a pious wish. I happen to live and work in a place that seems to be a prime target for evil nincompoops. Capital of Europe, Transportation : the place to be, for a spot on the front row.
That said, the chances of getting hurt are still infinitesimally low. 0.1 % of Brussels got hurt, 0.04 % killed. The odds are not to my liking, though. In a lottery, you can bet small very many times, and hope to win big once. In this game, you win a little every day, but one loss can be tremendous.
Cheers!

Be safe and be vigilant. The world is changing for the worse and in particular Europe.
Being a Northern European I feel the pain.

Thanks for the pictures Lukitas (the pictures of your work colleagues are my favourites - the light in the picture of the woman is gorgeous); and I'll echo Helen's thoughts.

I love it, when the light comes from everywhere. With the shadows from top and front, it is like studio lighting.

Hi Lukitas,
glad to hear you are OK.
I work in between NATO and the Airport, Maelbeek is 10 min walking distance from our flat (Ambiorix) and on the way to work for my wife.
My daughter's nursery 10 minute walk from Schuman.
We were all already at our working places yesterday and we are now all together at home and I consider myself lucky while my thoughts go to the victims, their family and friends.
