And I started to think my Voigtländer kit was getting big...

I'm thinking about getting a EX/EX- Prominent II instead of repairing this one. It would cost me about double, with an Ultron, the service cost for my current one. The only thing that holds me back is the risk of another braking copy and the fact that with sevice my current one should be usable for years for sure.
Edit: It wasn't as EX as I thought as the lens apparently has cleaning marks (do people use sandpaper?) and the viewfinder is slightly cloudy.

It looks like I will have to skip Zacks, even though I would love to send it to him. He has been extremely helpful but I found out that I would have to pay some serious tax and duty on the repair being performed outside of EU, kind of brutal actually. I'll have to think about it and check the market once more.

Have you found the reflex attachment yet? See http://www.novacon.com.br/odditycameras/voigtland2.htm
I had one in about 1990, when I bought my last Prominent outfit, but it was definitely more of historical interest than useful.
Cheers,
R.

Looks like a left-over submarine periscope. Probably fun to use, but hard to get good results from.

Yeah, I've been thinking about getting one but the logic killed that thought.Have you found the reflex attachment yet? See http://www.novacon.com.br/odditycameras/voigtland2.htm

I have the first version Prominent with the Skoparon 35mm lens and the Nokton 50/1.5.. I also have the VF. The camera had a stuck shutter when I bought it.

Does anybody know if the shutter units from all the Prominent I versions are compatible and how hard it would be to switch them between two cameras?

How did you fix the shutter?
I sent it out for repair. I paid about $65 then.

Oh, that was cheap! Zacks seems to be the cheapest for me but then I have to pay a lot of shipping and apparently as much duty and taxes as for a new camera. :bang:I sent it out for repair. I paid about $65 then.

Except for the aperture, how much quality difference is it between the color-skopar 50/3.5 and the Ultron 50/2.0?

I fixed the shutter! I went berserk, removed it and hit it with the plastic handle of a screwdrived in different spots and suddenly it just started to work.
Now, I created a new problem, the shutter button is jammed and I can't figure out how to engage the lever that is supposed coupled to the plate in front of the shutter pin?

I've haven't owned a Prominent yet (I missed out on one the other day), however I expect I could repair it if I did. So in the interim, I can only offer some general advice:
Stop hitting it!
It won't help.

Usually it's true but this time it just needed a little push in the right spot.Stop hitting it!

Or as one person said "if the machine is broken try a sledgehammer, and if that won't help find a bigger one".

I tried freelensing the Skoparon and Ultron in front of my Pentax K-5 and boy that Skoparon looks nice! With the Ultron it was too hard to shield it from unwanted light, as you can see. I had to be careful with the Ultron not to stick it too far in or I would risk a broken mirror.

I always liked the version that goes:Usually it's true but this time it just needed a little push in the right spot.
Or as one person said "if the machine is broken try a sledgehammer, and if that won't help find a bigger one".
If it won't fit, do not force it. Get a bigger hammer.

Now I only need to learn how to unlock the shutterbutton/winding lever and how to engage the pin back into the plate that moves the shutterpin. Looks hard though.
