Buying a C3: a few questions

Congratulations. I hope it's in fine working condition. 😀

I've recently cleaned the RF lenses and glass on my early model (sold the other one). Went as far as taking the front off the camera (had to reglue all leatherette afterwards) and cleaning the gears.
I need to take it out for some exercise this year 😀
 
Best of luck with your C-3. I have had a really good time shooting with mine and also researching the Argus cameras and looking at the pics that people have taken with them. I was unfamiliar with Argus until I was given the C-3. Now I have an appriciation for their place in camera history.

I have had it for 30+years, when I first got it I cleaned and calibrated the range finder. It has been a bullet proof friend. Here are some shots I took this last year.
 
They weren't lying when they called this thing The Brick. You wouldn't say it's this heavy from the pictures.

I've got a small question though: the manual says to turn the shutter speed selector counter-clockwise, but after 1/10 I get a lot of resistance. So do I turn it back the other way to get back to the high speeds or is that resistance normal?

On mine, the shutter will turn CCW past the 10, then you hear a click as you get to 300. If you turn the knob clockwise, you hit a hard stop at 300. Here is a link to what it looks like inside: http://members.tripod.com/rick_oleson/index-120.html
Rick Olsen has all the info you need to take your C3 apart and put it back together. It's not as hard as it seems.

Thanks, I was worried I was forcing it. I got the first test roll back, and it looks like the camera works fine:

It's a lot of fun to use, too 😀
 
None, actually. The manual says to make a habit of winding on the film after each exposure, and if you do, the worst that can happen is that you wind it on twice. Still beats losing a photo...
