I'm going to look at, and possible buy, a Leica IIc tomorrow and am wondering what to look for outside of such things as accuracy (to the ear) of shutter speeds, lens issues (scratches, haze, fungus, etc.) and the like. This would be my first LTM Leica so I'm wondering if there are other issues I should be on the lookout for? It appears to be in very nice shape, comes with a collapsible Leica lens of some sort, and includes original case and instruction manual.

Any buying advice would be appreciated. Including comments on a reasonable price (which I know is tough because I'm unsure yet about what lens it comes with). Thanks in advance!

Unscrew the lens and look at the curtains, in both cocked and rest position, check for wrinkles and obvious signs of holes and damage. Make sure the edges of the curtains are running parallel (broken straps)
Check if the Rangefinder spot is clear, that it has plenty of contrast.
Check if the take-up spool is included.

Thanks for the info Mr_Fibble!

Any thoughts on price?

I'm thinking maybe $200 max for the body. As for the lens, I have no idea not knowing what it is and not really being familiar with lens values.

I've attached a couple of photos if that helps?

The lens seems to be a Summitar (f/2, 50mm), a very fine lens, capable of excellent images, IF in good condition. Unscrew it off the body, with opened diaphragm shine a small torchlight through the lens and check for fungus ( spider web like), haze and dust. With closed diaphragm, check for oil on the blades. Check both external glass surfaces for scrathes and cleaning marks, and damaged coating. if the body is in good working order and cosmetically pretty 200US$ is a good price. If the Summitar is good too, it's worth at least 200-300.
Good luck!

Well, I was unexpectedly hung up this morning and by the time I got over to the sale someone had already bought it. It went for $150, but I did not find out what the lens was. There was also a very nice looking Rolleiflex at the sale I had my eye on (couldn't tell which model by the photograph), but it was gone too - for $200 🙁. Thanks for the help just the same!
