Howdy folks. I am about to do what I told myself I would not do, and that is spend money on another 35mm film camera. Oh well.
Anyway this time around I think its going to have to be a Leica, and I prefer to have one that has a meter in it. An M6 seems to sound nice. An M8 I decided is just way to much for me to spend now. I would like to keep using my rangefinders but for digital I cannot deny that I better just stick to my canon's for now.
So....I know this might be a little esoteric, but maybe someone out there can point me to a few good websites in China or HK that I can buy a used Leica body. I know of a few, like digifan, but his prices are typically a good 30-40% more then US prices I think (especially now with a very favorable exchange rate for me). I could wait for a year or so, the next time im in the states to find something but would rather get it over with now.
Anyway maybe I can run a few things by you guys. Leica prices in China have always been a little bloated but seems like it would be worth a little extra so I dont have to have it shipped, and sent through customs and stuff as things more often then not just disappear when they are shipped here. The mail system really is not safe at all when getting things from other countries. Once I mailed a couple of small prints to a place in the same town here, they never showed even after being shipped with tracking and insurance. Figures.
I saw this used M6 for 9350 RMB or 1,315.70 USD, but I wouldnt know what to think from the pictures, especially the one that shows the back open and the shutter with that seems to be discoloration? Also its missing a strap bumper.
This M7 is looks ok, some good wear around the back script and 16800 RMB
(2,364.03 USD)
By the way, his M8's are a good price, 34000 RMB or 4,784.35 USD
I was kind of thinking about spending less then 10,000 yuan (1400 dollars) anymore and I would just rather not get a film camera, frankly I feel stupid enough as it is spending this much on a film camera that isnt some huge negative right now but what can I say. Maybe someone out there knows somewhere else I can look?
ps. due to a hellish time with several, im not considering a Zeiss Ikon.

I like my R2a but I shoot a lot of photos wide open, I would like to have the extra base length for that. Also film is becoming something of a novelty for me. When ever I have a job to do I always do it digital, so if its going to be that way, might as well have something special to do it with
I have yet to make it to beijing, my teacher says its the best bet for all these kinds of things but with my laowai face I would get charged an arm and a leg.

i think the ones at digifan aren't that bad priced.
https://www.leicashop.com/main.php?leicaopen=1&kat=03&kat2=39&orderno=14337_1
here at the leicashop in austria, they sell this b/c rated M6 for nearly 1400 usd, and it's their cheapest...
and the only m7 is 2700 usd, the cheapest ive seen in the last weeks here in austria/germany was 1100 usd i think for a m6
so just get one and be happy with it
any plans on leica lenses?

Pity digifan's prices aren't the best - their table was great at the photo fair in Hong Kong recently. The guy behind the counter happily unboxed a pristine RD-1, and let me mount any lens on it short of the Nocti there to give it a spin. Also touched an M for the first time there (the M8, shock horror).
How're Tin Cheung's prices? They're the only trustworthy place in HK with a working website I've seen.

In my opinion the most reliable seller in Hong Kong is Joseph Yao joseph(at)yao(dot)com.
I bought a lot fo stuff from him and I have never been disappointed, he is very reliable but I don't know if he deals with second hand gear. Still, you can send him an email he always answers quickly and is very knowledgeable. He hasn't got a website.
I would not recommand digifan, they were way too expensive during the photo fair in Hong Kong, they have good gear but as you said 30 to 40% overpriced.
Hope this help.
Cheers

Don't try to buy any used Leica in Korea--you'll have to pay twice the USA price!!!!
