calling out to epson RD-1 users.

Fact is the R-D1 was the only digital RF available in 2004 when the M8 did not exist yet.

Perfectly true. Also completely inconsequential ... Epson isn't making them any more, where Leica has developed six or seven new model lines past the M9, plus variants.

Epson had their shot and didn't take it anywhere.

I think full frame is overrated. Look at the results some here are posting from their MFT Olympus gear. More over, if there were to come a full frame Epson, it would by simple economics be a CMOS sensor and thus loose some of the charm of the R-D1.
Oh I whole heartedly agree with ya, I just want my 35mm Lux to act like a 35mm lens on the R-D1

A few posts back I reported that my RD1 would turn on but not fire the shutter. Two new aftermarket batteries arrived in the mail today and the camera sprung back to life. I guess my other batteries had simply reached the end of their lifespan.

Good to see your post. I am lucky as I have an Epson for some years now and have treated it gently, using it for particular projects rather than everyday and thankfully it is still reliable and producing great results
