For a while now I've had a short length of really nice red fabric, and I use it to wrap around my zorki when I throw it into the pocket of my sidebag.

I don't trust my canvas bag not to scratch the lens, and its a bit of a loose pocket as well.

I wasn't happy with it being simply a veil around the camera, so I pulled out the sewing machine, and made the fabric into a little camera sock. Unfortunately the fit is a little tighter than I hoped, but the camera now has a nice sleeve to save it from superficial damage. Also I'm using the collapsible I-50, so it makes it a nice little pocketable.

It couldnt be any other colour, sorry bout the crappy picture though!

What ya think?

Very nice. If you ever get the urge to recover the Zorki, Aki Asahi makes a lovely red cowleather that looks very ... appropriate... :) on FSU cameras.

I actually really prefer the black covering, I have a yellow snake style covering on the kiev/contax, and thats funky enough for me!

that looks great! I've been thinking of making something similar for my CL and possibly some lens pouches.. neoprene might be a better choice, but flannel would be easier to work with

With a typical sewing machine they're easy to put together. That material was double-layered, I folded it over for the added protection.

I wanted a lens pouch but then I went on ebay and found something better (never bought it though) - look in army surplus stores or on ebay for "grenade pouch" or grenade holders for belts. SovietArmyStuff has a 2-grenade pouch brand new old stock or something. Add a softer lining, would be perfect.
