On the Avedon site, there is a great article that Richard wrote on Lartigue ( a favorite of mine.) It really captures the spirit of an excellent photographer. Its a fun and quite interesting read. I can't seem to link to it, so I'll attach JPEGs of the text.

Edit: It looks like the JPEGs are really small. If you download them, they're plenty readable.

I just downloaded and printed the pdf from the avedon site about Lartigue. I'll read later, just gave a quick look and the diary lines are something new to me. Interesting, thanks for the link

I've been working through the 5 technological founders you listed above my prior post. All very interesting, thank you. I live around 10 minutes away from the HRC in Austin where the first photograph is often displayed. I was around 10 when I first saw it and thats when I really began to understand and appreciate the technical challenge of capturing light. Thanks for sharing those!

And Gary Winogrand is wonderful, too. I have a number of books with his work. I always enjoy them.
 
I love the technical side of just about anything, and actually the combination the technical and the creative was one of the chief appeals of photography to me. So, yes, please keep the science-y stuff coming.

Do you work in the photo industry? You seem to have very interesting connections and are certainly knowledgable enough to be.

Thanks for all the sensor and film links. The foveon sensor has always interested me, but it seems to have really struggled to make any ground as far as market share goes. Only Sigma uses them in their relatively unpopular cameras, no?

Its must be neat to work as a photographer. I'd consider it, but I fear that if one of my passions also becomes my profession, I might loose interest as the pressure to produce increases. I'm a ways off from having to make that decision, though.

Thanks for that link. I really enjoyed those, though I'll have to start contributing here a little more. I feel a little greedy.
