Cameraleather.com experience

I Ordered a "VH Black kit for film back 12, A12, A16" costing $17.50 for my Hasselblad 500C/M on September 5th (2012), it is now October 5th - one month and no reply

I guess I have a loooong wait ahead of me...

So now it has been 1 year and 7 months and I have heard nothing - not even received a single email.

I ordered again from Morgan, got a response the same day and received the skins 3 days later.
What can I tell you. I have never had a problem with him in over 10 years, but I don't order exotic leathers

I've had excellent results with camera leather. I have a Mamiyaflex camera, the one with only one focusing knob on the right side of the camera as you hold it, and Morgan responded to my e mails and was able to provide me with the leather for the camera.

I ordered a Griptac kit for my MP on Tuesday. I sent a message asking if he needed any additional info about the camera. He responded to my email right away. The kit arrived Friday, and I installed it today (Saturday). The fit is really nice, and installation was easy using the instructions supplied on the website.

The most challenging part was getting over my fear of taking the old skin off, which was actually quite easy.

I don't recall ever hearing about the thickness of the skins. Thicker? Thinner? Just right? I would think if they were thinner than the vulcanite, the top/bottom plates would feel quite "edgy". Given that I've never heard anyone mention the feeling being edgy, I guess I've answered my own question.

This was my first time ordering from Morgan, so I don't have much to compare to. The Griptac was at least as thick as the 400 grit sandpaper covering that came on my MP. I would hazard to say it looks a touch thicker than the original after applying it. That being said, I think the original was too thin. It was not close to flush with the top plate like the vulcanite on my M3. The thickness of the Griptac covering seems to improve that situation.

I'm still waiting, going on 2 years. Emailed, phoned. Success in the past, and then this. He's hard to figure out. I'm going to keep on trying though.

I just ordered 3 sets from CameraLeather. I ordered a leatherette set and 2 composite leather sets so I'm hoping it doesn't take too long to arrive!

*fingers crossed*

Good news Update! After two years (almost to the day) and some persistent (but polite) emails and phone calls Morgan has come through! I just got an apologetic email from him letting me know my order has shipped. He also gave me a partial refund for the trouble. My sense has always been that he is a good guy who puts out a good product but the service part of the business is a bit overwhelming. I doubt this is his only occupation. So if you order keep track of the time and stay in touch.
I'll post pics of my "new" OM-4 once I finish it.

That's good to hear!

I ordered 3 sets this week and e-mailed him about the expected delivery date. He promptly emailed back saying that they would be cut and shipped within the day and that I would be receiving a confirmation email from USPS. I have not received the email and sent him another email to follow up.

No reply so far. It's only been a week so I still have my fingers crossed and I'm staying positive.

On that note, do you get an email from USPS before your leather ships or do you just receive it in the mail?

Have been thinking of ordering the Black Beauty since Aki Asahi no longer produces 4038 (shame). Double the price, but I guess it is what it is.

Longest waiting time for me was about 3 weeks, my last order was 3 days.

Do you get an order confirmation before your kits are sent out or does it just appear in the mail?

I was told by Morgan that I'd get an email from USPS, but haven't received anything.

Thanks!

He usually ships regular first class mail, I don't think there is any notice or confirmation with that, it's just a letter with a stamp.
