Cameraleather.com experience

Maybe he just had some Graptac M4-P cuts laying around cause I ordered mine Tuesday and received/put it on today. (Saturday).. My overall experience was well. Are you guys ordering the more expensive coverings?

My experience was great.

So after two months, no sign of my cover, no email responses, and PayPal refunded my money. The material I ordered is in stock (clearly shown in bold on the web site).

I have no problem placing an order, but don't charge me before you ship. Based on what I have read, Morgan seems to be an honest person but don't jerk me around by thinking that you are doing me a favor by providing your camera covers.

Ok I am off of the soap box now.

Can someone please explain how these disparities described above can possibly exist in any business? I am stunned.

Hey, Anil....get lam to order it for you!

David,

Lam ordered griptech which may be pre-cut. Who knows what the inventory and making process is. Is it first come first serve? I do not believe it is. From what I have read on Morgan's site, he tries to service returning customers first.

I had ordered the Indian red kid skin for my M3.

I wanted anything but black but I may have to get black from a different vendor. I would love to hear from Morgan about the disparities myself. I doubt that he reads any forums let alone his overstuffed email box. I would place another order if he responds with a time frame. Initially I was told 5-10 business days once he got the payment.

I would love to see you persist and get that cover from Morgan. An M3 just deserves it!

I just can't figure out what is going on. Never seen any business, home, corporate or otherwise with customer service like this. I really wish someone could help him because I am not ever going to order another cover (and I have one picked out) until he gets the problems corrected. It is a real shame.

One-man show anymore?

One-man show anymore?

A year or so ago his father died, and the business was a father-son thing, I think. The old man was retired & could devote more time than Morgan, who (my speculation) may have a "real world" job as well. Sounds like he needs another employee or something to keep the work moving, but who's available (of any quality) at wages that We, the Customers, can willingly afford?

Maybe he could sell the business and make a killing? Invest it all on Wall Street? Not. I have several Spotmatics or H1/Hv bodies I did over in burgundy or greens - fabulous and well worth the wait, and at bargain prices, I think. I don't think his business volume could support anybody as a full-time job, so time is not, unfortunately, of the essence.

I've had great dealings with Morgan, 3 or 4 coverings over the years always in a couple of weeks. The last order was Dec and it's now almost April. Got one email saying he was out of town for the weekend but would check on Monday. That was a month ago with no more emails. I don't care so much about the money but I really, really want to cover my Nikon S. The original covering is toast.

Well finally got my cover. Apparently, Morgan had questions for me and the emails he sent from his company email system never got to me. He then contacted me via his private email. Here is what my camera looks like with the new cover.

A happy (eventual) ending and a nice looking camera. Glad to hear it.

Just wanted to provide my experience -- sent him an M3 for recovering last Wednesday; he received it Friday. Got an e-mail from him today that it's in the mail back to me; I should have it Thursday. Eight day round trip! Exemplary. Communication was very responsive too. Perhaps recovering gets his more prompt attention?

I would say that Morgan has gotten a whole lot better in the last couple of years. I had a few issues with cameraleather.com having to email over and over before getting a response saying my leather was delayed. However, they have turned the operation around, from what I can tell.

I recently ordered (in the last month or so), a levant black covering for my lever rewind M2, and had the kit in my hands within 4-5 days. Very quick turnaround compared to my 3-4 week turnaround from a few years ago. I would recommend them these days

I finally got my m3 cover after two months. It's been a month now for my Nikon FA cover. It's hit or miss. Not very reliable.

It took about a month to get my Minolta XD kit. It was worth the wait though. My XD-11 is looking great once again wearing black Griptac!

The only problem I have now is what to order for the XD-5.........

Got my R-D1 griptac kit and a leather kit very quickly, pretty sure it was only a couple of weeks to me in the UK. Very good and the stuff worked perfectly (have kept the leather set for spare!)

I've also posted this in another thread, but this one seems more active. So: order placed on April 6th for 5 kits, instant payment, instant "thank you for your payment" reply, "we should have all of these done this coming week" (namely by April 13th).
And, as you might already imagine, 0 (zero, nil, nothing, nada) communication ever since. I mean mutual communication, not just my (increasingly) questioning emails.
Judging from previous posts, he seems to be active. I wonder if my $178 isn't enough to buy me at least a decent email reply...

Update: I sent a message with "PayPal dispute to follow" in the subject line and ending it with "With all due respect, please be so kind as to offer me a reason for not claiming my money back while I can still do it." 11 minutes later the answer came back, letting me know that 4 out of my 5 kits are done and that goat and exotic kits usually take three weeks. Now either my logic has gone bad or "We should have all of these completed this coming week" in Morgan's language translates into "three weeks" in everyday language.
This has to be the weirdest way to run a business I've ever seen.

I take it some of you have never been to Vermont, and therefore not experienced how time slows down there. Actually my experience with cameraleather was many years after I lived there, but I know that Morgan only cuts the material after it is ordered, and mine arrived even faster than I expected. Keep that in mind I'd you order more than one, and know that the quality is excellent and you do get what you pay for. A quality product takes time to produce.

Cheers,
Rob

Morgan is not very communicative, and did not reply to any of my emails. I orderd mid-march, and my leathers showed up yesterday, and I immediatly recovered my Pen FT. Despite a tiny misalignmet around the time knob which I can not work out better, it works just perfect.

Have just ordered some aganin for my other cameres.

Oh Yeah !! So happy to see he is on business again. I'm ordering mine today, let's see how much time it take for a Cardinal Red leather for a Canon P coming to Barcelona!! :D
