In the tv series Hercule Poirot his sidekick Captain Hastings uses a Leica III or IIIa.
It was a IIIa. David Suchet personally uses both Nikon and Leica. He used an M3, which belonged to his grandfather who was a Fleet Street press photographer in a documentary series about tracing your ancestors. He has featured in the "Nikon Owner" magazine. (Issue 6) and Issue 11 using a Nikon D100.

The new film "Carol" with Cate Blanchett, has the other lead female Therese Belivet (played by Rooney Mara) as a photographer. From the official movie trailer clip #2 she seems to be using an Argus C3 (which would be appropriate for the time - the movie is set in 1950s NY; the film is based on Patricia Highsmith’s 1952 novel The Price of Salt, written in 1952).
One glaring error - the film shows a ground glass viewing screen snapping into focus as she focuses the RF camera.
Edit: anyone know what film she's using? It shows her loading the camera with a green 35mm film cassette..

It is a Canon F-1 that spends half of the movie rattling around on the dashboard of Helen Hunt's truck in Twister, not a Nikon as (much) earlier reported.
The James Woods film "Salvador" may be the best camera-spotting movie of all time, with Nikons and Leicas galore.
