Can´t check the shutter...or can I?

I have a question about the shutter function on a G2

I am in contact with a seller of a Contax G2 body. Without lenses.
Is it correct that the shutter don`t move without the lens on?
So I can`t check the function of the shutter without lens??

I just tried my G2 and it shutters fine with no lense. Seems like a bad camera.
