Canada canadian rff meeting - May 19, 20, and 21, 2007.

A quick annoucement:

Two days ago I received a box from Mike Boylan at Blazes Photographic. It was stuffed full of the following goodies, which we'll give out by random drawings during the meet:
  • 3x QPCard 101 white balance reference cards
  • 3x Two rolls of the new Rollei Scanfilm CN400, 135x36 format
  • 3x Two rolls of the new Rollei Scanfilm CN400, 120 format
  • 1x Rollei R3 Test Set, comprised of five rolls of R3 film and 250ml of RHS developer in a wooden presentation box
  • 1x Rollei Retro Test Set, comprised of five rolls of Retro 100 and 400 film and 250ml of RHS developer in a wooden presentation box
That's a total of eleven different prizes. Thanks very much to Mike Boylan for his generous support of our event!

Cheers,
BJ

True enough. It just still raw, eh? I'm looking forward to even more injuries next year.

But ... maybe I should come to Montreal in light of the last game between the two teams ...

Go Sens Go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, don't you guys start fighting over hockey!

As a matter of national pride, you're cheering for both the Sens and the 'nucks. If you have a problem with that, you're welcome over at my place to have some sense slapped into your heads. :D

Not fighting over hockey? C'mon man, if we can't have our religious war on the ice, what kind of Canadians are we?

forgive me if this has been covered here already but do we have any kind of an itenary? a "central" meet-up spot? a time to meet? cel number of someone or the like? i suppose with enough wandering about i would eventually bump into someone with a rangefinder...
anyhow, looking forward to meeting you all!
cheers

We don't yet, but I'll be putting together some loose waypoints for the Saturday and Sunday. This will make sure that people are able to join up with us as they arrive in the city. I will also share out my mobile number. This will all be sent out closer the actual event.

I'll arrive in Montreal via rail on Saturday afternoon. I'll need someone to meet me there, or at least directions on where to go to meet up with whoever is here already.

i will be staying with the fella that owns the claremont cafe (covered earlier) and he is still mighty fine if we use it as a meet-up spot.

this is not a shameless plug for a friends establishment... an eclectic urban bistro located in montreals westmount district... with a unique, warm and inviting atmosphere. perfect for casual, formal or buisiness. 5032 sherbrooke west, montreal. really it's not.

Your shameless plug has been received. I'm thinking of using the cafe as the Sunday evening dinner meet-up, but I wanted to actually visit it first. Thanks again for the reminder!

Is anything happening on Fri., the 18th? I arrive at noon, & would at least be interested in a moderately priced restaurant recommendation.

I'm sure there's much better places to eat but if you want to take a few shots and are willing to eat smoked meat, Schwartz has an old school deli charm. (Charm might be the wrong word)
They say it's the best Montreal smoked meat out there, I'm not sure about that but it is good.... and the pickles are great.
Bit of a dive but could be interesting and sure is famous. It's on St-Laurent... a bit of a walk if you're downtown.
Another good place if you're right downtown is Ruben's, as in the Ruben sandwich. couple of locations, right down town, good food.
If your near the Bell Centre downtown, there's a nice St. Heibert BBQ chicken place next door... it's a nice old building that used to be the train station.

Thanks, Rob. Been to both, esp. Ruben's. I know what you mean by the charm, of both, actually. I was interested in doing something different, but those two are fine if I don't see anything else.
