Canon 19mm f3.5 value?

Canon 19 LTM on M9

Canon 19 LTM on M9

This is a shot using my Canon 19 LTM lens on a Leica M9 made the other day. Heavy colour fringing and the inability to correct it within the camera has made me reconsider buying a M9. I will stick with my M8 and Nikons.

I'm an old school guy and just don't like using a lot of make up software. Also just another thing to buy and learn. I have wide lenses for my Nikons and a D700 so don't feel the need right now. That might change in the future. I have a CV15, Canon 19LTM and a Canon 25LTM that cause problems on a M9. I'll just use them on my M8 with the adjusted FL's or on one of my film cameras.

The rear element can't hit a shutter since the flange to film distance on any camera for a given mount is the same.

Of course this is wrong. The flange to film distance may be the same, but the shutter to film distance isn't.

Case in point: the J-12 works fine on a LTM Zorki, but the rear elements hits the shutter on an LTM Bessa (at least when focused to infinity).

There is a problem working with wide angle lenses that are not Leica on the full frame digital M9 that are not there on normal Leica film cameras. Most any brand lens that will fit a film Leica will work fine on the Leica M8 digital. You would only be using the center portion of the lens though because of the crop factor of the M8.

Thanks for your answer! I think i will keep working on film camera.🙂

It is the RF version (judging from appearance), but the seller claims (and does not show, unfortunately) the presence of a bayonet mount.

This could mean that there is an LTM->M converter tightly screwed on, something else the seller has probably never seen. Just pointing out the obvious.

Cheers,

The seller said that he has seen other lenses with a mount adapter, but that his lens has no such adapter. The FL version does not need an external finder. The case if for the RF version plus finder.

Still, it is important to make sure that you pay for the RF and get a RF lens.

The production number that Canon gives for the 19mm f/3.5 is 980 units and that covers the two variations that I identified in my book.
This number was mentioned by Hooper in his LHSA article about Canon lenses too.
What's about the S/N's in your book, are they confirmed by the data book you've got, Peter? Or need they be revised in the second issue?

I already have a CANON 19mm f3.5 LTM with case and finder. And it cost me about 1300 us dollars........... I think this lens is very rare indeed..... Why this lens in America are so cheap........ Can't believe it.....

I've looked at Kevincameras.com website and most of his prices are astronomical.

Yes,just like what i said before. A friend in another thread called "Canon RF 19mm 3.5 with finder and case on ebay" said he could buy a CANON 19mm f3.5 LTM at 900us dollars in Kevincameras.😱 Which make me confused...... I don't know why the price we saw are different......
