For such a well-respected lens, it seems like the Canon 35mm f/2 is underrepresented on Flickr (or just under-tagged). I'm considering purchasing one of these soon, so if any folks around here have photos taken with this lens, I'd love to see them.

Very compact, very nice lens.

I don't have a canon 35mm f2, but a good friend of mine, Orville Robertson, shoots one on a leica M and gets fantastic results. Check out his pics on facebook or google his name and look at his web site. He is a great street photographer. He recently bought a second 35mm canon f2 because he wanted a back up.

It is sharp, but falls neither in the category of modern, like the CV line, or the classic older RF lenses from the 50s. It's damn good.

There are two flavors of 35/2. I had one late model and now have earlier model. I like the late model with higher contrast and crispy color, while earlier model has slightly lower contrast and somewhat muddy color.
A Japanese website notes the difference between the two is that on the earlier model it states "Canon Camera Co., Inc." at the front while the later model omits that with wider spacing with larger characters.
Which one do you have?

I nice small sharp lens. But if you want creamy OOF, this is not the lens to get. Difficult to filter, too.

I had my eye on that one. Too rich for my blood, after the last two went for under $300.

One went for $600+ on ebay in the last few months if I'm not mistaken. I wanted the lens, but could not compete with the other bidders. $400 or less is a great price IMHO.

Jiri_e sold one last night for $355. Perhaps someone from here bought it, who knows.

I was that someone. haha! lens needs a CLA so waiting for it to come back. At the meantime, two quick shots of this lens on M8. Very sharp and nice smooth bokeh.

I've had mine coming up on two years, and I'm quite happy with it. I decided on this one over the V1 Summicron, which I previously owned for quite a while. The 35mm F2 Canon is cool.

I've also been collecting 40mm Canon Slimline filters for mine. Have most of them at this point, and I use them, too. Also a Canon 35mm F2.8 Hood which takes series filters, and Kodak Glass Wrattens. It all works well when I want to use a hood.

I must admit I do sometimes lust for the 35mm F1.5 Canon but I am good for now.
