Canon 35mm/1.5 on ebay .... close to $600 already!

..........say bye bye now, just like the $400 or less f0.95/50 only 5 Years ago ~ I paid recently about $600 for my f1.5/35 that was N.O.S. in the original case/plastic bag with both caps ~ it's not N.O.S. anymore as it's my most used lens now, but $600 for mint/new is a bargain now.

The next Canon RF lens to go mega pricey will be the f1.2/50 mint/new/CLA'd will go over $800 soon, grab yours now!!!!! 😀

The sad truth about ebay is that someone else could have the same lens in the box mint, post it for sale tomorrow and barely get 1/3 the sale price of this one...

I paid $550 for mine, new in the original box and with caps.
I thought that was a good price at the time.
Frankly I looked for one for a couple of years, there are not many around.
Sold the original rear cap and the box, didn't need them.
Awesome lens.

I paid much less for my clean copy of the Canon 35m/1.5 with Canon 50 lens hood. It cost $400 or so. I forgot the exact price.

I have used this lens quite often. It can be used in sunlight or open shade for very sharp and "normal looking" images that look pastel color with a film like Fuji Reala. When I used it at night, and with street lights, the resulting look was more vintage or more "flare" from the lights.

And I specialised in Canon RF lenses and accessories.

The $$$ value of Canon RF lenses has my head just about loose from my shoulders from all the shaking 😱.

It is a shame but since the digital revolution, RF and SLR lenses of all ilk are being separated from there original bodies.

Alas, I will put my hand up for doing exactly that but bodies are dead in the water, while lenses go sky high.

At least my Canon RF lens/body database can give me some indication when a lens or camera body was produced.

May I ask you about the production date of a lens?

Now I regret having sold a few Canon RF lenses.
Canon 28/3.5 and Canon 50/14 and Canon 50/2.8 and Canon 85/1.9.

Canon RF lenses = $$, i could have told you that. I've passed on several 35/2's to RFF members, along with a few other Canon RF items.

Very nice picture, Raid. Those colors are beauty. More than just the lens at work here to be sure!

Question: am I the only one that thinks the $1057 ending price on this lens was a fluke? Look at the bid history, there was a bidding war between two relative newcomers to eBay. I think they got a bit carried away. The winner seems almost crazy with his/her bidding style with 3 security bids at the end. Obvious newbie getting emotionally attached to winning at all cost. To be sure, Canon RF lenses are on the rise price wise, but I don't think this will dictate the future price of this particular lens. Just my 2¢.
