Canon 50/1.4 LTM lens just sold for $1358!

Can anyone see what was so special about this lens? That seems to be a huge overpayment for such a lens, isn't it? Here's the eBay listing:

Yeah, that must be it. I've been having a terrible time finding a Kendo filter. Maybe I'll check with Tamarkin. 🙂

Peters K's book list this as a type two,only cosmetic changes . He says it was not promoted in the US like the 1.2 and 0.95. He say's"The 50mmf/1.4 now ranks as one of Canon's top RF lenses and is sought after by many users,making it an expensive purchase for collectors." 90464 type 2 units produced .

I'd expect to see a bunch of Canon 50mm 1.4s listed with a 'by it now' price of $1000 or so making them down right bargains compared to this one for anyone looking at recent sales. 😉

guess the thing with old lenses.. there is a demand for it and the prices immediately match, and alittle more...

i saw a few copies sold for incrementally $50 difference in a space of weeks but this $1k tops it all!:bang:

PS: I never though much of the Canon f1.4/50 - I had one once that was mint minus condition and it shot real soft and with no character , my minty f1.2/50 performs way better and also looks great at f1.4!
