Canon 7 info

There are so many interesting LTM lenses around, hunt them down! The M lens can come later!

Oh, yeah. As fun as the re-engineering project sounds I'm know the first project is going to be acquiring some classic LTM glass. I'm sure I'll be probing you guys for some suggestions at some point regarding available glass. At this point I'm going with the Nokton to start but I'm looking forward to trying other stuff, too. Its too bad that the 7 doesn't have an accessory shoe so I guess I'll be limited to 35mm and above until I pick up another body. See, I'm building my justification list already and the first canon hasn't even arrived yet.

Well, the 7 and Nokton arrived today and I have to say I'm pretty impressed. The camera is in pretty great shape and seems to work flawlessly. I knew the meter was a selenium cell so I'm not to dissapointed to find that its just as I thought. I figure that as long as I'm shooting print film in daylight conditions the meter will be acurate enough. I find the dial used to switch between the 2 light levels pretty hard to turn (I have big fingers) so I think that at least for now I'm going to use the new digisix right along side of it. At least till I get a better handle on the selenium cell's abilities. I've gotten a little spring loaded spool made by orvis that's normally used by fly fishermen to hold little tools that get used frequently. It gets clipped to the neck strap and the digisix gets clipped to it. Its sort of like those old spring loaded key chain reels that the janitor always used when I was in elementary school only a lot smaller and with a light wire instead of a chain. Its super handy as the meter is always within a quick grab and requires no putting away. I can even leave the meter's cover on the wire so that I can tuck it away if its getting banged around or something. I never liked having both a meter and a camera hanging around my neck as they banged together and just seemed ungainly. This set up is pretty slick and I thought of it all by myself!
Anyway I have about 5 cameras and a bunch of lenses packed in the van along with plenty of noodles and cheap wine and my wife and I are off early in the AM for the desert southwest for a 3 week road trip. Maybe I'll even have a couple of nice snaps to post when I get back.
