Kevin, how heavy is the setup? And do you need an external view finder for it?:)

Well,I think its weight is similar to other Canon 85mm lenses even this one look shorter than the others. Canon 7,7s and 7sZ have 85mm view finder inside the camera so you can feel free to use 85mm lens.:)

If there is a sharper 85, I'd like to see it.

it has the same look as my summicron 50 v4--and I think its sharper!

Mine weighs 488 grams.

As noted above the 100/2 is excellent and has similar character, but I don't think it is quite as sharp. Very sharp nonetheless.

With this lens (Canon 85 f/1.8), when you adjust the aperture does the focus ring move with it?

I'd say it the other way - that the aperture ring rotates with the focusing barrel -- but, yes. Same as the Canon 100/2, Nikkor 85/2 and Nikkor 105/2.5.

Here are a few on my R-D1 (conversions in Epson PhotoRAW). I'm liking the lens so far. I need to do some controlled tests of focus accuracy, though -- I suspect some adjustment might be needed.

Just picked up a very nice condition Canon 85mm 1.8 - here are a couple of test shots both wide open at iso 3200 on a Leica M:
