I have one It is a good performer. If you are looking for a small RF that performs well (assuming you get one that does) you should enjoy it. What more are you looking to know?

Does it feel solid? Or does it feel like a light weight piece of plastic? Can you attach a lens hood to it?

I have one, it frustrates me at times, but I find it invaluable. Due to its size I'm able to carry it with me pretty much all the time. When I'm driving I always have it on the seat next to me. It has allowed me to get a lot of photo's in the time I've had it that I wouldn't have otherwise gotten.
It feels fairly solid. I'm not sure about the lens hood, that's a good question, and it could definitely use one.
My main complaints are that it's too easy to accidentally change the settings, and that the DOF is mind-bogglingly deep (I like shallow DOF's that are basically impossible with it). It is also too slow when shooting fast moving trains.

By many reports the G10 is slightly better, the height of that line as it were. Also check out Panasonic Lumix DMC LX3 -- lens goes to f/2.0. Good approach to Zane's DOF problem. And the Canon S90 seems to be everyone's new favorite. Latter two are both about $100 cheaper than the G11 but have no optical viewfinder, it's all screen all the time.
