Hmm. There are references re C41 Stand and Semi-stand on photo.net and elsewhere. Much skepticism. One guy likes it but says it’s better for scanning than it Is for darkroom printing as you can fix the color imbalances. I’ll look deeper.

Great pictures, chicago8c. And the Leica CL shots with Proimage film have such deep, rich colours without being too vivid or artificial. They’re the sort of photos that take my breath away and give real pleasure to look at.

I have two copies, one with haze and one without. I cleaned some off but for the rest, I have some glass polish but I haven't gotten around to cleaning it yet.


Both are the black and chrome versions. One has the infinity lock, which I'm leaving on, one has the lock filed down so it still "soft locks" but doesn't require you push the pin to move it, just holds it lightly in place at infinity. Works well.

Kanto Camera (Japan) posted this pic on their Instagram page a few weeks back. If I read what they wrote correctly, they have contracted with a company to produce proper glass elements for both the Canon 50/1.2 and 50/1.8 lenses. No the idea what it would cost, but replacing stained glass elements with new ones may now be an option.

If I remember I checked, it costs around $200 for a new lens element, so not really worth it for the 1.8, might as well just buy a new lens or polish your existing element. Plus, I think you still have to re-cement the element since it's glued on somehow, so there's some potential for error there.

I don't believe they'll sell you the element. You send them the lens, they'll replace the glass and reassemble. More info is on their website.
