I need some help in finding out what this camera is worth.
It is the 41'st P built and had a pretty sheltered life.
the first owner used it sparingly up through about 1970. She then gave it to her son, who used it a few times and the shutter stuck.
He put it in the closet and it stayed there until about 4 months ago.
I got it and sent it to Mark Hamma for a complete service and just got it back today. Works and looks almost perfect.
While it was gone, I picked up an M5 and now want to sell the camera.
It would come with the Case, in great shape and the working optional meter for the P. Also the front cap which appears to be chromed brass.
The P is pretty close to mint, but a few bright marks and a little paint lose around the edge of the door keep it from that.
Shutter curtains: Front one has very minor wrinkle, rear is w/o wrinkles.
It also came with an almost Perfect Canon 50mm f1.5 Lens, which is why I bought it in the first place. I'm keeping it.
So what do you think it's worth, or better yet, what can I sell it for????

Maybe $450? You can get an M2 for $500 sometimes.

From your story it can be pretty certain that the lens is original to the camera.
You might want to sell them together as an original set. The lens will probably fetch more than just any Canon 50/1.5 because of the originality of the combo.
With the revenues, buy yourself a Canon 50/1.5 to keep.
Maybe fellow RFF member and Canon connaisseur Peter Kitchingman has an idea on collectability, or can hook you up with an interested seller. I'd ask Japan-based members too, they might have an idea on interested collectors.

That's a beauty, but the market seems to be slow/ weak right now. If you don't have to sell, I'd keep it for awhile til the market rebounds.

From what I can recall, The Canon P seems to be sold with either the Canon 50mm f/1.4, f/1.8 or f/2.2. I don't think it was every paired with the Canon 50mm f/1.5 for sale. The time period might not have overlapped.

A nice looking P. It's probably worth whatever nice looking Ps' are going for right now. The low serial number may be of interest to some Canon rangefinder collectors, and that may raise the price a bit, but overall you'll probably get the current going-price for a P.

Put it up for auction on ebay properly displayed and with no reserve. The market will let you know what it's worth.

I just took a look and the spacer under the lever was upside down. A 10 second fix. Done. Thanks. Good Catch.
Thanks all for the helpful information folks.
As for selling the lens and camera as a set, I'm not so sure. The glass on the lens is perfect as well as the lens body, except for a slight loss of chrome by the infinity lock tab. Hard to let it go.
Also, as stated above, it was not offered new with the 50mm f1.5.
I may give eBay a try.
I think Raid hit the price I was thinking right on the head.
