Buongiorno a tutti
I have a nice collapsible 50/2 Summicron and I would like to use on my Canon P. Is it possible? Any problem by collapsing it?

Thanks in advance for the replies

No problem whatsoever.

The Summitar and Summicron have a ball-and-groove arrangement that allows the lens to only collapse in one position. In that position, there are bayonet locking tabs at 10 o'clock, 2 o'clock, and 6 o'clock. There's no tab at 12 o'clock, which is the only position in which they wind up scraping against the baffles.

Well, at least on my 7s, and I think the baffles on all the later Canons are essentially the same.

The Elmar 50/3.5 is trouble, as is the Hektor 50/2.5 and the Summar 50/2.0. Same with the Canon 50/3.5.

The collapsible Summicron will scrape the light baffle of the Canon P. There is a plate below the RF pickup that it does hit. It passes under it, but leavs marks on the paint.
