I recently picked up a Canon P with a Leica 50mm f/2.8 Summicron collapsible lens. I have read, on Stephen Gandy's site, that I shouldn't be collapsing the lens into the body, but the camera came with that lens and it seems to be working just fine. No spacing issues, exposures good, everything works. Since i was using the lens before reading the warning and nothing has happened, can I assume it is OK to collapse the lens, or is there some kind of a gotcha here? The shutter curtains are unwrinkled and I want to keep them that way. Lovely outfit, BTW.
