I love using my Canon P cameras. They are not pretty or minty, but they do their job well. I have recently added an olive painted Canon P. I have them shown below with Canon lenses.

Chrome P with 50mm/1.5
Olive P with 85/1.5
Black P with 35/1.5

The P is a workhorse and is highly reliable.
I can quickly change film with it, and the VF is large and bright.
Some may prefer smaller sized cameras, but I like using the Canon P.

Of course, Paul. I will have you try a P out for size and weight.
Just let me know when you will be back in Pensacola.

I have both. The 7 is ugly while the P is elegant.
Both have excellent viewfinders. The 7 allows you to switch to different focal lengths VF. In the P, there are frames.
The 7 allows the use of the Canon 50/0.95.

Thanks, Maiku.
I like the P a lot.
The repainted ones were painted after production, so they are not rare in any way.
Still, you don't find every day such cameras for sale (maybe in japan).

Steve,
Black painted Canon P's show up often for sale in Japan (on ebay).
The other option is getting it repainted in the USA.

Well I just acquired a Canon P and Canon 35/2.8, 50/1.8 and 100/3.5 and I find it very elegant. Everything and some series 6 filters fit in a small Domke bag.

Congrats.
The Canon 35/2.8 is a little gem.
The 50/1.8 matches in performance a vintage Summicron.
The 100/3.5 is tack sharp and very light.
