Is it possible to repair a Canon P exposure meter or have it repaired, and if so if it economically viable? The needle does deflect slightly but not very much and I assume that a new cell would be needed. Do they still exist or is there something that could be used instead?

I'd just get a handheld meter. Then it won't be camera specific so you can use it with any classic non-metered camera.

Thanks, but Los Angeles is a bit far away for me. I live in Wales. The postal costs would probably be more than the meter is worth, if it's worth anything in non-functional condition. It looks kind of pretty sitting on top of the Canon, though.

Snapper,

You could try Newton & Ellis in Liverpool. They have fixed CDS meters for me in the past - not exactly cheap but top quality workmanship.

Might be worth giving them a call.

Thanks, John
It will probably turn out that it' s best kept as a decoration but worth a try. I think it's probably a selenium cell.
