199 is good for the moment but it lacks a finder. Just got a nice 3.5/28mm with finder for a decent price. Quite surprising for me that it works well in a team together with my RF C/V 4/21mm, or is as sharp as my Pentax-SMC-M 2.8/28mm with both have a good reputation.
Whereas the overall rep. of both the Canon 2.8/28 and 3.5/28mm isn't the best. Inconsistent quality? For me the latter works excellent. But I have never seen a comparison of the two picture by picture. cheers, Frank

You're not kidding about the pain! I've paid just under $400.00 USD for my 28mm f2.8 and Black VF's. I'm still looking for that Canon Hansa for $100.00!

i'd love to say yes but it's too rich for my budget.
i have a chrome finder (slightly damaged) and the zeiss ikon with 28mm framelines so it's hard to justify the price against the budget.

but it sure is pretty...
