I recently inherited this Canon RF. I can't ID the model (I'm a Nikon man myself). It looks kind of like a VT, but it has the wrong advance, among other things. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Hello,

According to P. Decherts book it is a Canon VL2, a economy model of the VL (without 1/1000 s and a different rewind crank) which was produced from 1 /1958 - 12/1958.

At that model line, canon offered both both rapid rewind at the baseplate (starting with the VT) and thumb lever (starting with the L2)

Canons number of slightly different models at these years is quite confusing, as the model family starting with the VT has 9 different models.

Regards,
Thomas
