Canonet G-III QL17 Lenshood Fabrication?

Hey everyone! I'm new to the forum and rangefinders. I just bought a Canonet G-III QL17 and was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind lending me some of your knowledge. I am interested in retrofitting a lens hood for my camera in a fashion similar to the original Canonet hood. A certain website has already achieved this, but unfortunately doesn't sell it anymore. So my questions is what should I look for in another manufacturer's hood--I'm specifically looking for a rectangular shape--in relation to size of hood, size of thread, material, and orientation to the meter and rangefinder window. Also what do I need to mount the hood to the lens if it's a different size? The aforementioned website used a step-up ring, I'm not quite sure what those are or what the intended purpose is for them--something I'm sure would help me in searching for them. I've read through the forum and couldn't find anything specifically relating to this matter, so I apologize ahead of time if this has been covered, I promise I tried searching first. I'd really appreciate any help.

The correct hood is the Canonet #4 hood. You can probably find pics of it on the Internet. Unfortunately, these hoods are hard to come by, and often sell for more than a good-working camera. I sell these on eBay once in awhile, but I only come across 2 or 3 each year.

I have a s-50 hood for my canon 50mm f/1.4 screwmount lens. I tried it on my canonet yesterday and it fits perfectly.. if you can find one anyway..

edit: Just noticed you want a rectangular shape.. whoops..

Here is what I use:

It is a series 7 filter holder with a 48mm thread. Perfect!
