Hello

Can anyone help? I have just acquired a mint condition Canonet G111 QL 17 rangefinder.

the only problem is the rangefinder patch which is very faint indeed. does anyone know of a firm who can repair this problem as apart from this the camera is brand new

thanks

Probably Essex camera in the US... As for the UK, sorry but no clue. Good luck and congratulations on the purchase.

BTW, did you try cleaning the VF and rangefinder windows? The patch is a bit faint anyway, so don't despair. If the camera is virtually new, take it for a walk, use it, and you'll get used to it.

Did you (or somebody) maybe try cleaning the half-silvered mirror? If so, some of the reflective surface may have rubbed off. If that's the case, you can scrounge up a replacement (finding this will be an exercise for the student) mirror or for a quick-fix, use a small amount of that half-silvered foil used for windows.

There's also a trick for brightening the RF patch by dimming the center of the viewfinder with a small rectangle of black tape over the center of the main front viewfinder window.
