Can't believe I just bought another Nikon F

Vickko, you can't believe you just bought another Nikon F. I can. I bought my first F when i was sixteen (I'm sixtytwo now) I have five Nikon F's at the moment.
Congrats to the finest camera ever produced.

As far as I recall, I have five, too. I know there are two black, and I think there are three chrome, all with standard prisms. I use a couple of them (the black ones) reasonably often with the 200/3 Series 1. But I've not bought any more in a long time: 20 years or more. I really should sell some of them but it's a lot of hassle and they just aren't worth much any more.

The oldest, rattiest chrome one has an NPC Polaroid back permanently fitted. That's the one that gives 2x 24x36mm images per sheet.

Cheers,

R.

Three F's?

Want to feel better about it? Roger has Five!

I have Eleven F2's.

For me:
1 chrome F2 with DE1
1 chrome F with eye level finder

New:
1 black FTn, because I want a black one with ELF

My parents had 5 kids, 4 sons in a row, because they wanted a daughter. Baby sister was last. See how crazy this can get. Hey, GAS must be hereditary.

Someone has a classic line in their sig ... "not too many cameras, just not enough shelf space!" or something like that. 😀

One day I'll get an F ... just not now!

There are also cases when GAS is not self-inflicted, but rather comes about because the Digivolk donate their Film gear to us.
I've been given all of these in the last few years: Chrome Photomic F, chrome F2, Nikkor 24, 50 and SB-15 flash, Vivitar 17~28, two black FMs, EM, chrome FG, Pentax K1000, Pentax MX, Minolta Maxxum 7000, Yashica something or other, Chinon CE-3 Memotron, all with various lenses, bellows, motor drives, filters and bags, as well as two large boxes containing about 40 Vivitar manual focus and auto focus lenses in various mounts, plus binocculars and flashes.
I've managed to sell a bit of it, but have in turn given away the Lion's share to various photobuds, a few internet friends and Church groups.
I kept the F2 for parts, and shoot with one of the FMs, but it seems that I'll never completely get rid of this stuff as there is always someone else with Film equipment they don't know what to do with.

Great camera, the F.

Unfortunately I'm a sucker for any old classic camera that I come across. Nikon F, Spotmatic, you name it, if the price is right, and I'm in the mood, I buy it. I just picked up an old Canon F-1, which I don't need, just because it has a very early serial number (100980).

I think I have a handle on my GAS. I haven't bought a camera for quite some time. I think the last was a 9x12 (I need to start CLAing them -TIME). I only have about 12 of them now, 4 Yashica 103s, 3 Fujica ST 901s and an 801, a Pentax HV, a Minolta XG-1 ...

I guess I still need help. (Now where is the number to that 12-step GAS group?)

Congrats on your "new" F1. Never had one but never heard anyone say anything bad about them unless they were a Canon owner in a defensive mood. 😀
