Hopefully it will end the nonsense of having Leica Switzerland as a distriibutor and others who wouldn't even mention their products, let alone import them. :bang:

This sounds very advantageous for Carl Zeiss, and likely so for consistent marketing and customer satisfaction world-wide.

Well, I'd hope so... or at least make the product line more profitable for Zeiss! I did have that in mind, considering that this takes the "middleman" out of the distribution. CZ will certainly have expenses related to the distribution, but hopefully less than farming it out to a separate organization... especially if that other distributor is less than fully enthused by the product. Zeiss is certainly motivated! Another part of the "satisfaction" was alluded to in their announcement, that they'd be in a better position to directly receive and respond to customer feedback/problems.

I am sure Hasselblad wasn't distributing the ZM line cheaply. I will speculate further, I wonder what else is in the development chain? Are there new products in line that will make this move even more advantageous?

You will note he said a premium line of M lenses.
Also there will internet ordering which is something I have long advocated for many products.

I think that he was refering to the ZM lenses already in production as comprising that premium line. Which is not to say they won't add to it, but they already have that line and want to cut out the middleman on it. Prices will probably stay the same, more profit for CZ making shareholders happy...

Now will Carl Zeiss be distributing these wonderful products in Canada? To date, the Canadian distributor/agent for Hasselblad has done zero promotion on the brand.

For a short time here in Australia Voightlander and Leica had the same importers, the Voigtlander brand went to someone else, funny that.
