Hi guys and galls,

Which store would you recommend for cheap mailorder Tri-x and plus-x bulk film?
I found 25$ at B and h, but a minimum of two boxes is required, and that might be overdoing it a bit.. Unless I find another interested person here...

Cheers,

Onno

I get about 18 or so 36 exposure rolls per 100 ft. bulk spool, so I usually order 5 or 6 spools at a time. I am not shooting as much film as I used to. I don't think you will find two spools to be overkill at all.

ETA: I usually buy through Adorama, another reputable NYC dealer, but I have not found any Tri-X at other dealers much below the B&H or Adorama prices.

You may want to check B&H again, Onno. The Tri-x listed for $25 is only for a 50 foot roll (USA), not 100 feet. The USAW Tri-x is $29 for the usual 100 feet.

I did look at USAW, why buy USA over USAW? (serious question, is there a difference?)
I'm looking at www.photoimpex.de as well 46 Euro... just looking for a good place to buy from in the future. I shoot up to 5 rolls a week, but I would like to save some money on film. Photography is just SO expensive, but worth it!

I usually buy bulk Tri-X from Adorama and get the gray market if available. Tri-X is Tri-X

I use the gray market film as well, Onno. My point was, the Tri-x you were looking at for 25USD per roll was probably the 50 foot roll, and not the 100 foot roll, which is only 29USD.

Grey (or Gray) market film is imported through other channels than the official importer sanctioned by the manufacturer. On some products it can make a difference, like Sony electronics or Seiko watches, On film, the stuff is probably identical.

B&H warns that the manufacturer's warranties may not apply. If you ever read the express warranties on Kodak film, you know that you are not missing out on very much if you don't have a Kodak USA warranty.

This looks like a good price on bulk Tri-X (Plus-X too)

The only source I 've seen that is cheaper is Freestyle Photo in Los Angeles. Their best prices are on ther than Kodak films.
