Got a new toy in the mail and decided to take it for a spin.

The test subject - Chiyoko Super Rokkor 5cm f2.8
There are some positive reviews of an earlier 45mm f2.8 and later 50 f2 Chiyokos out there, but not much on this particular lens.

It's nice and small, very solid build. Feels like a quality product.

So I popped it on my M3 loaded with foma 200 film and went out.

First some wide open shots to show off the 'swirl'

With the background a bit less busy, it is actually quite smooth

The next one is also wide open. Center is nice and sharp, but there is quite a bit of field curvature, so the focal plane curves away from the fence towards the sides.

Wide Open

What is it about these damn white things that they attract all photographers so much?

The day was dark and gloomy and my iso 200 film limited me to max f5.6 for most of the shots. No worries - Chiyoko is pretty sweet at 5.6

... And sharp too

As luck would have it - the sun peeked through for just a minute or so. Gave me a chance to close it up to f8 for the following shots.

Can you say 'dramatic'?

After that, the sun promptly buggered off and was nowhere to be seen for the rest of the day.

Still, who needs sun when you have depressing imagery like this?

All in all - a nice little lens to have.
I'm starting to feel bad for having too many 50s though...

Interesting lens, google says built '47-58' and it looks like it is heavy (good).
Some of the prices I saw were very high, seems a Summitar is less expensive.
Wide open really sets the focused item apart from the background.
Thanks for showing this.

The prices vary wildly for this lens it seems.
My copy was quite a bit less than a Summitar, on account of having very loose focusing action. Nothing that 5 min with screwdriver and lite lithium grease didn't solve (very nice focusing action now) Glass is in very good condition

While the lens is looking for a new owner in classifieds (can't justify having so many 50s)

Here are some shots from a photowalk today on A7ii
