CineStill Df96 Monobath - any experience ?

Tried Rollei Infrared 400 in the Cinestill monobath. Seems to have worked, mostly.

Wista SP, Nikkor 75 4.5 and Rollei 400, using a R72 infrared filter. Developed for ~11 minutes in the Df96, in SP445 daylight tank.


For comparison, here's Tri-X 320 (Linhof Technika, Nikkor 90 f8, with Orange #21), developed for ~4 minutes in Df96.

No post processing on either, except trying to clone out some scratches in Photoshop.

Looks good. That flare on the right side may have happened w any developer as it is IR film.

Cool! I have never tried Arista 400.

My monobath is at the end of its road. The solution looks as murky as the photo below. And the color has deepened quite a bit.

This was Rollei Infrared 400 again, developed in the SP-445 tank. Waited until late evening to do this development, and no apparent light (IR) leak on one edge, unlike the previous one which had light streaming in from the window onto the sink. I believe that some infrared gets through the opening through which one pours in chemicals into the SP-445 tank.

I used to sell monobath dental X-ray films. They were popular because you didn't need any darkroom or processing facilities. The film was enclosed in a plastic pouch which was cut open after processing. The results were just as good as conventional dev/fix processing, You wouldn't know the difference. For radiographs, good processing is essential.

I'd use D96, just haven't got round to it yet.

This is TMax 100, which needs 2x time. Developed for 8 minutes at room temperature.

I apologize if this question was asked and answered, can CinStill Monobath handle C41 film? Has anyone done it with gpod results?

It's not for color film - if you're asking about cross processing with black and white developer, I'm afraid I have no idea.

It works with dye based B&W films like TMAX, Delta, so you should be able to get some sort of result with C41.
But I don't want to experiment with it in case it contaminates my DF96 for regular film!
Hmmm, maybe I will on roll #19... if someone is willing to send me a roll of C41!
