To the best of my knowledge, people use both names: Ho Chi Minh City and Saigon. The city has had different names over time: Prey Nokor, when it was part of the Khmer Empire; Gia Dinh when it was ruled by the Vietnamese, and Saigon as of the French colonization which started during the 1860s. The current name, Ho Chi Minh City, was given in 1976 to honor Ho Chi Minh, one of the leading and most enigmatic statesmen of the 20th Century.

central districts any longer and will have to find solace in the emerging suburbs, instead.

New beginnings. A cleared lot in a very desirable area of district 2, close to the Saigon Bridge. I would estimate that the value of the land and the cost of building a city villa in
