CL versus CL

The Minolta CL is a much better CL than the Leica CL, right? I read somewhere that it has 25 improvements over the Leica version. But what about the Minolta-Leica CL? It doesn't have these improvements? Thanks for your time. :)
 
Sorry, :( one more question. Can these 25 improvements be implemented into a Leica CL by a Leica tech? Or does the camera have to be sent to a Minolta tech? :)

The cameras marked "Leitz-Minolta CL" were sold in the Japanese market, and AFAIK, were the same as the "Leica CL" . After Leica killed the CL, Minolta wanted to keep going, and so they did, developing the Minolta CLE, which had many improvements- longer base RF, AE, TTL flash, and addition of 28mm frames in the VF. The CLE also uses 1.5V button batteries and not the mercury one of the CL. The CLE is electronic, you need the battery for the shutter, the CL only needs a battery for the meter, I believe.

The supposedly 25 improvements were made during the short production run of the CL, and it takes a Leica tech to see if they were incorporated in any particular camera. Some techs did the improvements as part of regular CLAs, so its even more unclear which cameras were improved. If a camera hasn't been "improved" by now, it may be tough to do, I don't know the availability of parts. Others can tell you who is the "best" tech, but I had my CL CLA'd at Essex in New Jersey (just a stone's throw from here) for a really good price.

I answered Frank's question then recalled a similar thread over at PNet. A quick search showed Frank himself started or commented in approx. THIRTY threads regarding the Leica CL.

He started this thread on May 30th ---"which CL/CLE is better - this one or that one?" --- where this CL differences question was covered in depth by those knowledgable at that site.

Oh, Frank, if you have that short of a memory, why don't you check the threads over there? OH, you can't, because you're banned for life over there, I forgot!
 
Well, just as George said (in his first post :)) I recall seeing that info as well, the CL went through some internal modifications/improvements during its life. I read Sherry Krauter offered those improvements as part of her regular CL service.

But I guess Frank already knows that ;)

As are about a dozen of his trolling aliases, though before I left pnet they were still sprouting up daily like heads of the Hydra. He was/is not even in the top ten most obnoxious personalities there but I was sort of hoping the stench from the pnet Leica Forum wouldn't spread to this one. Oh well.
