Cleaning a Summar

+ yet another.

Can anyone help? I have a few pictures stored as attachments in my 'User CP'. Although I can see them I don't know how to copy them into a thread. Help much appreciated.

Michael

Just load the pictures up to a FLICKR-account. Then you can copy them and paste them into one of your posts on RFf; very easy in fact.

Erik.

John,

My collection continues to shrink...or should I say it is gradually being converted into classic sailing dinghies...there are however a few I would rather not part with until pressed very hard!

BTW, for me, the Summar has something of a re-birth on the Nex.

Michael,

Odd, I tried my Summar on the Nex and didn't like it so much. The MM is something else again - even with an orange filter (slightly unintentional) I can still get good skin tones. A light yellow works wonders - maybe I should try that on the Nex too?

My collection, apart from digital, is now your II and my MP, and I think the MP may be up for sale shortly as I have not shot a single frame of film since last year. other collections (model aero engines) are also being converted. I'm thinking that a classic car might be a requirement soon 😀

How many fingers have you got left? I remember those little diesels as being vicious beasties.

The Summar I'm using is coated which helps

Michael

I still have most of them, if a little scarred (carbon fibre prop at circa 22,000 rpm does tend to smart a little!)

Mine is uncoated, which tends to make colour shots a little low in contrast, but good for B&W

Rick: I will have to check your shots later - work systems do not allow access to anything with facecloth in the URL 🙁

Alright here's one. I hope that it shows up for you

wow -- my summar needs a serious cleaning -- who is the best person to do this? or would one of you guys here in the states be willing to do it for me? -- my hands are thick and shake too much for this kind of thing

In the US, I would suggest DAG or Sherry Krauter - both are top notch on old Leitz lenses.

You could try Youxin Ye too, but there have been some mixed reports here on his lens work - I have no direct knowledge on that, just that his work on LTM bodies is good.
