Cleaning Soft Cases

I need to clean a simi-soft case. Is there a trick to doing this or just wash it by hand? Thanks!

Is surface you want to clean of leather, or vinyl, or fabric? If the whole case is fabric, I'd think you could dunk it in warm water and use a bit of soap...

I used Cadillac leather lotion on mine. Cleaned up nicely without being oily or waxy.

The only problem is that it was my grandfather's who smoked and I wanted to get the smoke smell out.

oh... this is extreme -- but I have heard it can work to drive out the smell of cigarette smoke. Ammonia fumes- find a way to suspend the case in a container above some ammonia. Don't let the ammonia wet the case. Just the fumes, about a day or so.

The Ammonia evaporates rapidly so hang it out to air on dry day. Then use a non oily, non waxy leather lotion. The leather will need it afterwards.

I was hoping it would be easier.

I managed to get the smoke out of the strap with just washing it, but this looks harder. Thanks for the info!

White vinegar would be best I guess, you could wipe down the case with it and allow it to dry.

Leather lotion is still a good idea though, the case will look like new as a result.

oh, the gsn cases. I have two, both of them are sticky and somewhat smelly. However, taking it out regularly for a shooting helps alot.
