Anyone know these values, and if entered in dofmaster.com they provide accurate info.?

How about anyone who has made up laminated carry tables??

Thanks.

Not sure I understand the question, Ted. Which format then, the M8 ? You can use film numbers and just multiply by the crop factor.

Hi Roland

Hi Roland

I want to use dofmaster (online) with both the Noct and the 75 lux to calculate near and far DOF my M6.

What value CoC do I use, and why? In the Leica M book they talk about values of .0013, where .02 or .025 seem to be used for most Leica lenses?

Thanks,

Ted

are you sure

are you sure

the calculator changes values based on same lens, aperture, distance, with film size, so there are no specific CoC changes between any lenses assuming same format size (35mm for example) or what you are saying, enlargement size??

Circle of confusion values are only of value if related to print sizes. I don't guess I understand what the question is.

for example

for example

35mm film camera at f2, with 50mm lens a, subject at 5 feet what is area in focus.

what about lens b, c, and d?

Why would it matter if the enlargement is made into a 4x6 or 8x10?

Yeah. The acceptable CoC value is related to the enlargement size of the image. I guess what I don't understand is what practical picturing taking value knowing the CoC has. I understand what CoC is. What is the OP trying to accomplish by calculating it, I guess is what I'm wondering.

Why not just use the Leica .pdf files on their website? They are ready-made and easily carried in a pocket. Yes CoC is dependent on enlargement size... what is in acceptable focus on a 4X6 will not be the same for an 8X12.

It depends what you want to do with it Ted. It's a standard to which DOF is measured, DOF scales are adjusted, etc. The allowed size of the COC on the medium, to be still in the "focusing area". In dofmaster, when you select 35mm film, they pick 0.03mm. Puts uses 0.033mm. I assume this is what Leica DOF lens scales are adjusted to.

Best,

Roland.
