Color Street Photography

I'm continuing my adventure in color street photography. I tend to agree with Harry Gruyaert's view that if you're going to shoot color, make it about color. So I'm a little concerned about the Chicago winter ahead and the color it will offer. Gruyaert traveled widely to sunny, colorful places like Morocco and India. By comparison, my world is dark and drab for the next four or five months. The shot below, for example, is mid-afternoon yesterday - 1/60, 2.8 @ 3200. But I'm going to stick with it for a while longer and take color where I can find it.

Nothing drab and dark here! This is an amazingly well seen photograph, the more so because it required split-second timing in a very fluid situation (no pun intended, but hey...). I struggle with the same issue of drab and dark subject matter when approaching landscape in wintertime, though my subject matter is not moving, much. Your photo is an inspiration, and reminds me that the color is there, if I choose to find it. The wonderful thing about photography is that it compels us to open our eyes and really see.
