Come on,guys and gals !

Does the lens need to be RF coupled as well, or a picture taken with a CV 12mm and a Bessa L sould be rejected, while a picture taken with a CV 12mm and a Bessa R is acceptable, even if the rangefinder was not used in either?
And what about a picture taken with a CV 12mm and a Nikon F?

How about...

...any camera which uses lenses that have a registration distance under 40mm with the exception of the Argus (44mm).

?

When dealing with the grey areas, how about using the idea: cameras that are closer in spirit to RF than to SLR cameras. This would include the Rollei 35's, G!/2 and Hexar AF.

Frank, that's not very scientific. 😛
How about...

... a camera that does not contain a mirror larger than 25 sq.mm.

The only mirror in a RF camera is a small one for the rangefinder mechanism. That eliminates SLRs and TLRs.

I'd love to post more shots. I haven't put anything new in my gallery for a very long time. But my scanner died, and so I'm waiting to put a couple of rolls together and get them scanned at a local lab, so until then... some of those photos will reach back to January, there's my meet with Kris on Australia day, my Pass the Camera shots - some of which I'm really happy with - and god knows what else, just waiting for me to put together for you guys.

Okay, this is a good thread, just revved me up to get it all happening - I'll just finish this last roll in my other camera (the non-rf)....

Cheers,
Steve

Hi, I'm fairly new here and it seems to me that anything to do with film photography would be a better fit. Yes I realize that there are digital range-finders, but somehow it seems to me that people here are more likely to use a TLR than a digital anything.

Anyway, just my newbie 2c 🙂

Welcome to you.

I was only joking. 🙂 Personally, I think its the final image that is important, not the tools used. I guess a lot of members use cameras other than RF - I do, including an old Canon F1 (not much use recently). As for the digital versus film debate, whatever makes you happy should be the maxim.

What brought me to this site was RF, which I guess is our common thread, and I am glad I came.

Any members not using RF - I don't mean exclusively - there are enough posts about the dark side to show that we all like other things too?

In any case the more formats you use, the more you can have an excuse to satisfy you GAS. 😉

Regards

I am sure all the contributors to the RD-1 forum

agree with you 😉

Hi, I didn't mean to sound anti-digital, I just thought it weird that the definitions proposed would allow shots from my Digital Elph and exclude shots from a TLR. There's something about this forum that transcends these kinds of definitions and I guess I was trying to get to it with a (poor) definition of my own :bang:

No scanner of my own, limited access to the one I can get my mitts on, a complete frustration with the post-scanning process, and no photogeeks in my circle to volunteer to do it for me.

So far same story for me :bang:

I must add that my technical skill is far better than my photographic skill 😀

I do not own any digital camera yet , i just let the digital freaks lens me their
cameras to try

i'm not usre what the need for rules (and excluding people from participating here) is, but rest assured...we will not be changing the name of the forum, we will not be setting up a panel of judges and deciding who/what will be able to post to the gallery.

if and when the posting of pics made from non rf cameras gets out of hand then i assume there might be some changes made but that day is not close.

i think it's a bit ironic that some people seem a bit miffed that i will only use canon lenses on a canon camera but have no problem with the idea of legislating some members out of here because they took a pic (& posted it) with a non rf camera.

go out and take some some photos and forget about making rules for others.
