For added clarity, here is an outdoors snapshoot of the lenses.

I am tempted to take of each lens a photo on a camera so that you can see how a certain lens loos like when mounted on a camera. I don't know if RFF lets me post a slightly larger image here. I will try.

No way! Ansel Adams used to place his coffee mug on this particular table while he would figure out the right exposure for his photos. This makes the table worth at least $5 more.

Beautiful, Just great!

These tests are going to be fantastic!

How are you planning to test the lenses? (i'm sorry for my ignorance if you've answered that before) I hope you will be doing real life tests of objects and maybe people (great for lens character) as well! Wide open too! none of this f8 nonsense 🙂

Kudos for actually doing this, I'll be following it

Cheers,
Gavin

Gavin,

I already have done tests for 50mm lenses and medium tele. The threads are still posted here in RFF. I usually take photos at around 1.4-2.0-4.0 when possible. My photos are usually portraits, but this time I will include outdoors photos since these are 35mm-40mm lenses which often are used outdoors for street photogrpahy.

Mark: I am also impressed by this powerful showing of first class craftmanship and optics. They are mainly the lenses of RFF members;I have 4-5 lenses among them. We have several side by side comparisons possible that are hard to come by; Biogon with Biogon; four different Canon 35mm lenses; three different Nikkor lenses; ASPH vs. non-ASPH; Canon vs. Nikon (the old match-up); Zeiss vs. Leica; German vs. Japanese; vintage less contrasty lenses vs. newer lenses with higher contrast.

Raid, I don't see the Beast (aka 35mm Nokton). Are you missing that one?

Mike: I tried "motivating" owners of the Beast in a recent thread (on the Beast) to consider sending me one, but nobody was willing to do so. This is OK; we have enough good lenses onboard.

Best,

Roland.

Thanks a lot Roland. Your arranging of the results will make the tests much more enjoyful to go through and also more useful overall.
RFF: Please submit any corrections you see necessary in the photo to Roland or me.
