Well-known
does anyone use their lenses??? ;P
sorry Raid - i only have the 35/2'cron viii and that's already been offered... perhaps you might want to limit yourself to 35/40mm lenses in the first group and 24/28mm lensese in another test group?

This may be a good approach since I have very few 28mm available so far. As for a duplicate 35/2 'cron, it would be useful to have as a second test item for reliability.
Mark: I guess, we have to postpone testing your 28mm lens for a while, but your 35mm/2 is needed.

Which type of 35mm~40mm are we misisng here? I can see us missing Nikkor lenses and Zeiss lenses. Maybe someone will volunteer some exotic Zunow or similar lens to exite everybody here? I do not have any Nikon mount body, so if someone wishes to send me a Nikon mount lens, I would need with it a camera body.

I would appreciate your input in setting up the experiment. I need an well planned set-up so that I can take the right number of photos with the least amount of film. We have lenses with max aperture ranging from 1.4 to 3.5.

Raid, in addition, it would be great to have:
- both versions of the 40 Nokton. Is Fred's lens SC or MC ? Many people want to see a comparison, me included.
- a 35/2 ZM Biogon
- a 35/2 M-Hexanon
- a Canon 35/1.5
- a Rollei Sonnar 40/2.8
- a Nikkor 35/1.8 and 35/2.5
Best,
Roland.

Raid,
In response to Roland's latest post, I don't have a Nikkor 35/2.5, but can offer a Nikkor 35/3.5 in LTM for the test. I forgot that I had this lens, having recently acquired it as part of a package deal on a Tower 46/Nicca 5L.

Mark: This would be a great addition to what we already have listed here. Thanks again. I wish I had a Nikon RF body to make it easier for individuals to contribute Nikkor lenses. The LTM Nikkor lenses are hard to find.

Raid, I have a Nikkor 35/1.8 in Nikon RF mount that I use on my Contax bodies. The slight difference in focusing helicals is covered by the DOF of the 35mm lens. If you are interested in expanding the test, I can send you a Bessa R2C camera body in Contax mount with the Nikkor 35/1.8, and a Carl Zeiss 35/2.8 Biogon and 35/3.5 Planar in classic Contax mount. The Bessa works quite well with all of these lenses.

Roland: Fred would have to tell us which lens he has for this test. Mark is supplying us with a Nikkor 35mm/3.5, which hopefully will encourage others to volunteer other Nikkor lenses with a Nikon body. We can keep this request for volunteer lenses until maybe April 15, allowing everybody enough time to mail me the lenses for theMay 1 testing.

My 40/1.4 is the single coated version. I agree with Roland, it would be very interesting to see this lens compared directly to the multi-coated 40/1.4.
Along the same lines, I think it would be nice to see the classic Nikon 35/1.8 compared to the 2005 version.
You are also missing a CV 35/1.2?

I'm willing to contribute my multi coated Nokton for a side by side between the two. Just let me know when you need it, not to mention where to send it.

3. Summicron-C vs. Rokkor 40mm/2
4. Summicron 35mm first vs. third version
5. Canon 35mm 1.8 vs. 2.0

Wow, Raid, this is going to be great to watch. I only have the Canon 28/3.5 & 35/1.8 so I can't contribute in that way. But I am really looking forward to this test. I know so much less about the wides to begin with that it can't help but teach me a great deal.
I have to admit that the "5. Canon 35mm 1.8 vs. 2.0" is one I'll be interested in.
Poor Dana...
Thank you for doing this.
