If someone might have a chance, I'm trying to get an idea how big a basic Hassy 500 setup is but there isn't really anywhere around here I can my hands on one easily. I'd be grateful if someone could post a pic or two with your Hassy next to say a Nikon SLR or a M of some kind. I know how big those are and I can get an idea from seeing them side by side.

Thanks in advance!

Jim

I'll try and get a picture of my 500c/m next to a spotmatic or something, but I won't be able to until I get back from this work trip (tomorrow evening)

I'm sure plently of others on here will be able to help you out 🙂

I started to take pictures comparing my 203FE and FE2 and F100. But i stopped when it became apparent that the pictures really don't give you a true sense of how the size effects handling. The Hassy's size difference isn't really the problem. In terms of 'bulk,' it's not really larger than a large 35mm SLR with a motor drive. But, the 35mm camera just seems so much easier to carry and handle.

You really need to just order one from a store (like KEH) that allows you some time before you have to return it. Even if you could handle one in a store for a few minutes, it still doesn't show you how you'll feel about it a month later. I remember when i first bought my first Hasselblad. When i opened the package that contained the body (no lens or back), i was shocked at how tiny it felt. But, of course, the complete camera is not 'dainty.' And, even now, i'd so much rather carry my 5D2 with grip than the 203FE. It may be mostly mental. But, that still counts.....
