I want to thank everyone who helped me with my concert experiment a few weeks ago. I got busy over the holidays and didn't post the final results, but I'll share my favorite few on here now. There are more in the albums attached to the flickr Pages. Overall I was quite pleased with how they came out.

Forgot to post what I used. For the images with more controlled contrast and better tonality, I used hp5 @1600 with fx2 semi stand 90 min. The higher contrast images are delta 3200 in DDX developed for 3200 according to ilford.

Very impressive photos, for sure a good body of work! And I thank you very much for coming back and giving us your results. Maybe it's only me but I'm a little disturbed when people ask for suggestion on a specific topic and never come back telling us if and how it did work, sorry for the rant probably it's only me getting old 🙂

Thank you! It was probably the most challenging photography I’ve done. Only allowed 3 songs per band to shoot, and using film was difficult in changing rolls in the middle. I wanted to use my leica, but opted for a EOS 1v instead and I’m very glad I did. The lighting was the most challenging for sure. Likely the highest contrast I’ve encountered and tried very hard not to blow out the faces. Overall it was fun and I got lots of positive responses from people including the band members themselves. I’ve been offered to do this again and I look forward to it!

Nicely done!

What camera did you use?

So little grain, it looks like medium-format ^^

I used a Canon 1v I bought from Chris Crawford last year with my ultimate favorite SLR lens, the Canon 35L v1. The development was homemade FX2 at half strength, semi stand developed for 90 min with 1 min initial inversion, and 1 inversion every 30 min. When testing I found the DDX blew out my highlights, so needed some sort of compensating developer. I knew rodinal would lose speed and increase grain, so I researched and found that FX2 supposedly maintained film speed. I was very shocked at how well it worked. I thought for sure I would get better tonality at the expense of lots of grain. I think for high contrast situations this may Be my go to development.
