I have the opportunity to purchase a 1940 Leica IIIc with 5cm Summitar (also 1940, coated, a little hazy). It's the model with the stepped film rewind lever and red shutter curtain. It's not a military model or a K shutter model.

Cosmetically it is in very good condition. Shutter curtains look fine too. Finder is clear and rangefinder contrasty, though not particularly bright.

There is one problem with the camera though: 3 fastest shutter speeds aren't working.

Price equivalent of US$600.

Is this a good deal, or will it turn out costly when I factor in getting the shutter repaired?

The camera would need a CLA to restore it to "factory specs", which will take care of the shutter speeds. 600 US$ for a cosmetically excellent (red curtain) camera + summitar would be a fair price, I guess, at least in Europe.
