My Contact III-A has one image a bit higher/lower than the other. Might this be a "simple" adjustment or will it require a high-dollar CLA ?

I assume your referring to a Contax IIIa. If the vertical mis-alignment is substantial I don't believe its a DIY job at least for the inexperienced.

If it should be a Contax IIIa and the "images" are the rangefinder, it is no DIY job - indeed, it is one of the most tricky and failure-prone repairs on the Stuttgart Contax.

The Contax IIa/IIIa has a rangefinder whose vertical alignment is not adjustable short of altering the angle of the exit prism, which is firmly glued into place - removing it without destruction can already be hard to impossible, and even then, you'd still have to align it better than it was when you re-glue it.

Thanks all. I just pulled-up an extensively detailed piece on the Zeiss site. Wow! A good read with more detail than I expected. This guy knows his stuff. Sad, I kinda wanted a good useable camera. I have many others but this one was a real looker to me. The fellow, an engineer I think, wrote each one is pretty much a handmade item. Surely beyond my poor skills, definitely more than my piggy bank can handle. Such is life as I don't own a Red Flag or a Leica either. Patt on the back to those that do .

Sounds as if you're looking at Henry Scherer's site.
