I recently purchased Contax G2 which apparently has some issues of electronic nature. In the first roll I shot there was a empty (blank) frame. In the second roll there were 6 bad frames. 3 frames completely blank (it seems that shutter did not fire) and 3 frames were with the “drag” effect - it seems that shutter fired when the film was already winding. There is no low battery indication, so it seems it is not a battery problem. I tried to clean lens and camera contacts and shot some more rolls - I still get some bad frames (there was a roll or two with no issues, but with others still 2 to 5 bad frames.
It seems that this issue is described by other G users on internet, but there is no consensus as to what causes it. I can probably live with a few empty frames (if it does not get worse), but I like to camera and would gladly pay for the repair, but it seems that it is hard to find the repair shop in Europe that still provides service for Contax G. I contacted TRITEC in Germany, but they replied that they don't have spare parts for such a repair. Any ideas?

Try it wth a fresh battery even if the indicator says differently. I had 2 times problems with Contax, in both cases the battery indicator showed no low battery indication, but a fresh battery resolved all issues.

I know you asked for repair in Europe but what it the issue with shipping? I'm in Los Angeles but I shipped my Nikon F2s to Sover Wong in England because he is the go to repair guy for them. It didn't make much difference whether I shipped them across state or across nations. Once I dropped the box off at the post office, it was done!

The US people supposedly are Nippon Camera Repair in NYC.

Good luck!

Shipping is not the issue, the issue is when the item is sent back and is stuck at customs and they want me to pay import VAT. The documentation proving it was the repair is the key - and this is an additional hassle.
